It is clear that Safaricom has had a couple of partnerships in the last couple of months. the most recent one is Safaricom to Help Bolster Security. This is positive since a company of Safaricom’s magnitude should be involved in as many projects as possible that are aimed at benefiting the society that has made the company great.
One of President Uhuru’s agendas was to install security cameras. It was done on major roads and residential areas as a way of increasing surveillance and enhancing security.
These cameras are presently monitored by the National Police service. They have been instrumental in fighting crime, especially in Nairobi. As a result, Safaricom has now partnered with the Kenya Alliance of Residents Association to launch the estate surveillance system. This move by Safaricom was to help increase security in estates that will gain membership.
Safaricom to Help Bolster Security
Safaricom is planning on a pilot project in Ngei Estate Phase 2, Langata. The telco has sponsored a fiber connection to the estate. It will be used to power surveillance to the estate’s two gates.
They will also provide internet through one route at each gate and an installation of two cameras at each gate.
To address the power issue, Safaricom has provided a solar kit. Each gate will contain a solar panel, a charge controller and a battery.
The estate management and security firm in charge of security will have access to surveillance feeds. This will be made possible by Safaricom Cloud services.
During the launch of the service, Steve Okeyo who is the regional sales director said that. “With the onset of fibre optic, we are looking to diversify our service. We will offer and give customers a wide array of services.
We are cognizant of the increasing demand for security both in our homes and the environments we operate in and hence the reason we are happy to partner with KARA to transform lives of residents of the member estates.”
Safaricom’s connection countrywide
Since the launch of Safaricom cable internet, the telco has managed to lay more than 5000 km of cable across the country especially across major urban centers. It has also managed to connect over 200000 customers so far offering reliable high-speed internet and competing with other companies like ZUKU, and Access Kenya.
