The 2002 PGA European Gold Season has gotten off to a great start…in Kenya.
The Kenya Open golf tournament is considered the first event of the European season. Held at Muthaiga Golf Club, the Open is one of the country’s most prestigious sporting events.
The Kenya Open will run from February 28th until March 3rd, with over 150 competitors from around the world. The Grand prize is 75,000 pounds sterling.
The competition is attracting attention both globally and locally. For Nairobi gold fans, this is an ideal opportunity to take in some top-notch golfing action.
Kenya is rapidly growing in popularity as a golfing destination. We have 38 courses, of which 12 are 18-hole, and ten are used for championship events, in locations as varied as high altitude plains, beautiful lakeshores, lush forests, tropical beaches and more. From the fresh, crisp air of the Rift Valley, commanding views of Africa’s highest mountains, to greens overlooking the azure waters of the Indian Ocean, our courses are a feast for the senses.
This is a land of contrasting altitudes. With many of our courses at an elevation of more than 1500metres (5000ft), you’ll add 10% yardage to your stroke, letting you play on a natural high.
Kenya’s world-famous wildlife is never far away. A round of golf in Kenya can often be a nature walk in itself, with a remarkable profusion of birdlife and wildlife surrounding the greens.
Kenya’s courses offer international golfing standards and some of the world’s most beautiful design and landscaping. Our golf and country clubs provide the best facilities and high-quality service built on Kenya’s reputation for welcoming warmth.
You don’t have to move far from the green in Kenya to discover a world of travel opportunities. Kenya offers the visitor an endless choice of activity for adventure or relaxation. No matter how you want to spend your time off the course, you’ll easily find the perfect solution.
Play around in the morning and spend the afternoon on safari tracking down some of our famed big game. Sleep in late by the beach and then tee off on a palm-lined green by the sea.
Whether you want to ride a horse through herds of plains game, dive a coral reef, ride some white water or relax with a drink as the sun sets across the savannah, you’ll find our off-course activities are second to none.
