Watch Out for Bird Poop ( How to remove Bird poop)

Yesterday I walked past a car that had bird’s poop in its bonnet, headlights and windshield. This is likely to happen when your park your car under a tree. However dis you know that bird’s pop is very destructive to paint, metal and glass and should be cleaned as soon as possible. When it dries up, it becomes cumbersome to remove it from the surface which may lead to scratches in the process of removal. However, when still fresh, the poop could easily be wiped from the surface.

So you’ve walked over to your car to discover the tell-tale white and brown smudge of a fly-by attack. Finding bird poop on cars isn’t just a visual problem, the chemicals in the faeces can actually wear away small areas of paint. Acting fast is essential, but no one wants to get their hands dirty where this type of stain is involved.

Wipe any remaining spots with a cloth if needed.

If you’re not ‘lucky’ enough to catch the stain while it is still fresh, then you may find the removal process a little more difficult. Don’t worry though, it’s still possible.

It’s not a good idea to scrape at dried bird poop on cars. This can damage the paintwork or surface beneath. Instead, follow our process on how to get bird poop off cars after it has dried:

Soften the stain with liquid. Water and club soda both work well here, but you could also dilute an all-purpose cleaner. Dampen a cloth with your chosen liquid and place it over the stain for 10-15 minutes.

Gently remove the stain. Remove the damp cloth from the stain and spray some more of your chosen liquid directly onto the stain. Leave it for a few seconds and then wipe the area with a clean cloth. Apply a firm pressure, but do not scrub.

Rinse the area thoroughly. Make sure that no chemicals are left behind by rinsing the area well with clean water. You may want to wipe the area with another clean cloth to help prevent streaks or watermarks.  you can use the windscreen wipers if the stain was on the glass.

And there you have it – remove bird poop from car exteriors without putting a finger on it. You can also keep some spare disposable gloves in your car’s boot or glove box to wear during clean-up jobs, just to be extra safe.
