Early this year CES 2018 showcased the release of thousands of new products. Including a few new smartphones from Sony. Most notably the Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia XA2.
Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia XA2
The new Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia XA2 models have brought about significant changes to make these devices floating in the sea of countless smartphone options. One of the most important features Sony have added is the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone.
Magnificent Cameras
Sony has taken long enough to come up with the XA2 Ultra and XA2. These XA2 Ultra has become Sony’s first smartphones with dual selfie camera setup. The Ultra has two different selfie cameras because Sony recognizes the necessity to take photos of ourselves by ourselves, all alone.
Well, the Ultra selfie camera is designed to take 16-megapixel super-clear selfies. This is all thanks to the Exmor RS mobile sensor. It also has optical image stabilization.
For sharp bright selfies and night portrait flash. For blur-free shots with natural-looking skin tones.
The other selfie camera is designed for groups. You can take group selfie photos in an 8 megapixel, 120-degree super wide-angle selfie camera.
It allows you to fit more of your friends into the frame if you have any by just pressing the group button on the touch screen to switch.
Another great selfie feature is the hand shutter. This feature automatically detects the palm of your hands and takes your selfie for you.
No more awkwardly trying to press the volume or shutter buttons and dropping your phone just to take a picture of you eating a hot dog at the mall.

The Difference
Although the XA2 only has one selfie camera, you can still select between different selfie modes for 80-degrees or 120-degree wide angle selfies.
The best update to the XA2 Ultra may be the main camera which has 23 megapixels of Sony imaging expertise. 23 megapixels is like a DSLR camera.
The main camera features of Sony is the intelligent exposure to provide clear photos in low light. Fast focus to capture your world in motion clearly and 4k video camera with steady shot. The 4k video recording looks exceptional and the steady shot helps you take blur-free videos even while in motion.
The camera also shoots at 120 frames per second at full 1080p HD for awesome slow-mo. The step-down XA2 does not shoot 4k video.
The Design and Display Specs
Holding the XA2 Ultra can feel a little bit odd at first, especially if you are coming from a 5 year iPhone user. With its boxy design and hard corners, Xperia XA2 Ultra has a much higher quality feel due to the metal construction and other design flourishes such as chamfered edges.
The 6-inch display is still full HD 1080p like its predecessor. Sony did not succumb to the bezeless 89 trend with noticeable bezels on the top and bottom of the display.
Performance and Battery Life
Sony upgraded to Snapdragon 630 processor plus and placing 4 Gigabytes of RAM in the ultra and 3 Gigabytes on the XA2. Sony also threw in a new huge battery to the XA2 Ultra boasting a 3580 milliamp-hour battery and the XA2 housing a 3300 milliamp-hour battery.
The Ultra’s projected pricing will soon be revealed in the Kenyan market, making it an extremely affordable option for those looking specifically for a camera and audio-centric phone.
The Xperia XA2 will also be available in silver, black, blue or gold and have an expected release date of February 2018.
